The 2007 FIA GT Championship saw Italian driver Thomas Biagi win the GT1 drivers' championship for German racing outfit Vitaphone Racing Team. Finland's Toni Vilander took the GT2 championship for Motorola AF Corse with an impressive 6 first place finishes. Not surprisingly, Vitaphone Racing Team took the title for the team's championship in the GT1 series while Motorola AF Corse did the same in the GT2. However, there were also some very impressive teams that did not win including BMS Scuderia Italia which featured the Porsche GT3 car and Jetalliance Racing and their Aston Martin.

The 2008 season promises to be the most exciting yet. There are teams ranging from Scuderia Ecosse of the United Kingdom to ACA Argentina from South America. Among the standout drivers who will be participating are Gianmaria Bruni, Karl Wendlinger, Ryan Sharp, Xavier Maassen and Christophe Bouchut. The biggest change on the calendar will be the last race of the season which will take place in San Luis, Argentina at the Potrero de los Funes. Still, the most anticipated race of the season will come in July during the Spa 24 hours.
