Renault complacent over the future of Nelson Piquet
The jury on the future of Renault driver Nelson Piquet Jr hangs in balance after a couple of dismal performances this season. According to German based Auto Motor and Spanish newspaper Sport, Renault will make their stance of Nelson by the end of September. The latest report which was put up on Friday suggested that the French racing team were reluctant to take up the option of extending his contract for 2009 and further progress will be made based on his progress in the upcoming races.
In other news, former two times F1 world champion Fernando Alonso, the teammate of Nelson has also refused to commit himself to Renault in the coming years. The Spaniard is of the opinion that he is pulling his choices and a switch might just be on the cards. Renault are expected to replace him with Swiss driver Romain Grosjean in the coming season. Grosjean is still a rookie at the big stage and might just make his first foray into the Formula 1 circuit at the expense of Nelson Piquet next season.
