The Memorable SingTel Singapore Grand Prix Night
The night at Singapore at the SingTel Singapore Grand Prix last weekend was most certainly a memorable night – a night to remember. There were predictions that thunderstorms or rather bad weather is surely going to ruin the race but nothing of that sort ever happened and as soon as the race began the very environment changed into one of excitement and thrill.
The SingTel Singapore GP was supposed to be a historic one as this was the first race to be held on a street circuit in Asia and this was the first F1 race to be held at night. The lighting was so arranged that the track appeared to be lit by daylight and the entire view of the venue was simply spectacular. This very thing was a major attraction of the race this weekend.
But soon enough the race got very exciting and the day can be described as the day of Renault as Fernando Alonso won his first victory this season even though he had started the race being in the 15th position. The spectators had much expectation on Lewis Hamilton but he got caught behind Coultard for far too long to be able to get to the leading position. However the Grand Prix at Singapore was terrible this year for the entire Ferrari team as Raikkonen crashed on the 15th lap and Felipe Massa finished the race being on the 13th position.
Nico Rosberg of the Williams team was in the 2nd position when he got the chequered flag and the others to gain points from the race were Timo Glock, Vettel, Heidfeld, Coulthard, and Nakajima. With the end of the race at Singapore it is Lewis Hamilton who is still leading the rest of the drivers with 84 points and Alonso, the winner of the race, now has 38 points. Thus being the scoreboard everybody is now looking forward to the Grand Prix in Japan which is to be held on the 12th of October this year.
