The track features 11 turns and 60 laps.

The 2007 race was won by Scott Dixon of New Zealand for Chip Ganassi Racing. That race marked the 3^rd straight year that Dixon has won the race for Chip Ganassi Racing. The first year his car featured a Panoz chassis with a Toyota engine and last year it was a Dallara chassis with a Honda engine. Dixon is currently the leader in this season's IRL drivers' table and is a firm favorite to pull off a 4^th straight win at Watkins Glen. Last week the SunTrust Indy Challenge was held in Richmond Virginia with Andretti Green Racing coming out on top thanks to a strong performance from Brazilian driver Tony Kanaan who lead for the entire 166 laps. He was followed a close second by fellow Brazilian Helio Castroneves of Penske Racing while the aforementioned Scott Dixon came in 3^rd for Chip Ganassi. Those results leave Dixon in first place with 351 points with Helio Castroneves in 2^nd place with 308 points and Dan Wheldon of Great Britain in 3^rd place with 299. If either Castroneves or Wheldon are to make a move on first place and cut into Dixon's lead, they will need a good showing this week at Watkins Glen.
