The Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix is upon us and will take place on the 23rd March 2008 at 07:00 GMT. The Malaysian Grand Prix will once again be held at the Sepang International Circuit in Kuala Lumpur. If this race is anything like the Australian Grand Prix of a week ago, absolutely anything can happen. The first race of the 2008 formula one season saw only 9 out of the 22 cars that started the race finish. It was a particularly tough afternoon for Ferrari as all 6 cars running on Ferrari engines failed to finish as Lewis Hamilton and McLaren Mercedes ruled the day.
The Sepang Circuit features a 5.543 km circuit that and the race involves 56 laps. Scuderia Ferrari have enjoyed enormous success here of late with 4 wins between 1999 and 2004. Michael Schumacher of course, was huge force behind their success over that span. The 2007 race saw Fernando Alonso secure the podium with a first place finish and his teammate Lewis Hamilton finishing 3rd for McLaren Mercedes. You can watch Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton as well as all the young rising starts on the circuit when you watch f1 streaming video live online at www.watchlivef1.com
The results at the Australian Grand Prix of last week were extremely interesting. The race pretty much was divided in two. Lewis Hamilton had the pole and dominated from start to finish as he was in the lead for the entire race. However, the rest of the pack saw a number of close calls, break downs, and outright crashes that lead to Ferrari's nightmare day. Force India also had a particularly bad day though they did show much improved pace. Thanks to his victory Hamilton is atop the drives' championship with 10 points, followed a close second by the German duo of Nick Heidfeld and Nico Rosberg. In the constructors' championship McLaren are in first place with 14 points while Williams and BMW Sauber sit at 9 and 8 points respectively.
Without question it is Scuderia Ferrari who have their collective backs against the wall in this race. The Ferrari brand took a big hit in Australia and will need a big day to rebound as they have no points yet in the constructors' championship log. Without question, Hamilton and McLaren Mercedes will be the favorites given how dominating his performance was in Melbourne. However, don't count out Williams as they had a very successful first race and could be a likely big rival for McLaren. Last year's winner, the aforementioned Alonso of Spain, has already indicated that he does not believe that the Renault is ready yet. Still, anything can happen and you'll be able to view it all as it happens via the f1 streaming video available to you at www.watchlivef1.com, where f1 racing is always live and online.
