With his victory in Canada Dixon increased his lead over the aforementioned Helio Castroneves. With 5 races to go Dixon has 505 points and sits 65 points ahead of 2^nd place Castroneves. Castroneves lead over Great Britain's Dan Wheldon now sits at 50 points as Wheldon has 390 for the year. Danica Patrick only managed an 18^th place finish and has not been able to crack the top 10 in 3 of her last 4 races. Given that he enjoys such a big lead, Dixon could go a long way towards securing his title with another victory this week at the Meijer 300 in Kentucky.
