It was back in the year 1999 that this team was founded and that was right after the retirement of Wayne Rainey. Originally the team was based in the Netherlands but in the year 2002 they were relocated to Italy. Even though Fiat Yamaha is quite new to the list of the MotoGP teams, especially when the long history of the championship is considered, Fiat Yamaha has had marvelous days with some of the best riders in the team ever.

Max Biaggi won 9 times while he was part of the team extending from the year 1999 to 2002. In the year 2004 it was Valentino Rossi who joined the Fiat Yamaha Team and even Rossi got 9 wins and he also won the championship. Right after Rossi it was Colin Edwards who joined the nest year and got 11 wins as well as the championship trophy. Valentino Rossi is still part of the team and this year he is joined by Jorge Lorenzo. The Fiat Yamaha team is using two pit boxes for the first time to make sure that everything goes alright and that the best attention is provided to both the riders of the team.

Right now Valentino Rossi is leading the riders with 312 points and fellow team mate Jorge Lorenzo is occupying the fourth position. Last year Valentino Rossi had finished third in the World Championship.
