Toyota F1 are fairly new to the world of formula and will only be entering their 8th year when the season kicks off at the Australian Grand Prix. It has been a slow start so far for the Cologne, Germany based team as they have yet to win a single one of the 105 races they have participated in. However, just based on their reputation it is clear that sooner rather than later they will find a way to be a force to be reckoned with.
Toyota F1 made their debut in the formula one circuit at the 2002 Australian Grand Prix. Among the top drivers that have been members of the Toyota outfit are Allan McNish, Olivier Panis, Cristiano da Matta, Ricardo Zonta, Jarno Trulli and Ralf Schumacher who is the brother of Scuderia Ferrari legend Michael Schumacher. You will be able to watch Ralf Schumacher and all of the formula 1 drivers when you sign on to www.watchlivef1.com. Despite the number of quality drivers, the cars have yet to be up to speed and of their 105 races to date, Toyota F1 have managed just 2 2nd place finishes in their history along with 2 pole positions.

The 2007 season saw the dawn of a new era at Toyota F1 as they partnered up with Williams racing to provide the engines for their cars. The team got off to a promising start with Schumacher earning one point in the opening race. However, despite a positive run early in the season things began to go down hill quickly and the team attempted numerous adjustments to the cars which did not produce the needed results. By season's end the Japanese team had produced only 13 points for the season which was worst total in 3 years. After 7 years in the formula 1 circuit Toyota were going backwards and at season's end Schumacher announced that he was leaving the team.
Those 13 points were good enough for a 6th place finish so the goal going into 2008 will be for a 5th place spot or better at the very least. The pressure is certainly on team principal Tadashi Yamashina who has already been told that he has just 2 years, up to the conclusion of the 2009 racing season, to show dramatic improvement in the constructors' championship. The senior general manager this season will be Pascal Vasselon with Jarno Trulli back to join Timo Glock of Germany as the top two drivers. Kamui Kobayashi of Japan will serve as test drivers. The chassis this season is the Toyota TF108 while the engine will be the Toyota RVX-08. As usual, Bridgeton will supply the tires.
The pressure is on Toyota F1 as the 2008 season begins but the silver lining is that the law of averages would dictate that things will get better this season.
